| The purpose of this area is to prepare for all competitions at the Games by ensuring all Sport Chairs have fully developed all components required to successfully stage their event.
This will be accomplished by:
· working with Provincial Sport Organizations (where applicable) in finding a Sport Chair should they be unable to do so through their own network;
· holding regular meetings with Sport Chairs to monitor progress;
· establishing open communication between the Sport Directorate and Sport Chairs;
· developing and nurturing a relationship between the many Sport Chairs and, where necessary, the Provincial Sport Organizations;
· delivering pertinent information from the BC Seniors Board of Directors, BC Games staff, and the Host Community for your Games and the Sport Directorate to all Sport Chairs quickly, effectively and efficiently. The development of a Sport Newsletter could prove to be a valuable tool;
· representing any concerns of Sport Chairs to the Sport Director, the Sport Directorate, and when necessary, to the Host Community President;
· assisting Sport Chairs in grasping the "Big Picture" of the Games instead of allowing each to simply organize individual tournaments;
· acting as liaison between the key chair positions of the Sport Directorate and Sport Chairs in matters of volunteer recruitment, equipment, facilities, and finances with a focus on assuring understandings are clear and policies adhered to. |
